REQUIREMENTS WHEN DELIVERY TIME:

You should have your pack ready even one week before the stipulated time. It should have items like

Night dresses preferably maternity nighties which have an opening in the front
Change of clothes and slippers
Nursing brassieres and panties
Towels,pajamas,belt and sanitary pads
Toilet kit—paste,brush,soap,comb
Baby napkins
If you have other children make arrangements with someone to take care of them
You may have to go to the hospital in the night also. Make arrangement for that in your family. If your children are old enough to understand, try to tell them what is going to happen.
Keep the telephone numbers of the doctor, the hospital, husband, friends or even caretaker handy. You don’t have to go hunting for them during the last minute.
Plan how you are going to reach the hospital. If you do not have the facility, make arrangements to have an auto or car or a taxi that could be summoned with the shortest notice. If you have your own mode of transport, make sure that it has petrol.
Plan what should be done after you come back from the hospital. For example, your attendant may not be in a position to go to the shop. So get all essential items especially dry ones like pads, soaps, toiletries, groceries, baby napkins, dresses etc.
Since you may be bleeding or there may be flow of fluids keep sanitary napkins ready for yourself.
Be ready with comfortable dresses for you, the baby, winter clothes, a big towel or sheets to cover the baby, a rubber sheet to spread over the baby’s bed to prevent any soaking of the bed.
If the hospital is far away and this is not the first delivery, then reach the hospital well in advance.
