Planning 3

Constipation and piles : hormonal changes and expanding stomach affect the digestive system; digestion becomes slow and the food may take a long time to reach the intestine. By then the fluids get absorbed and the remaining food becomes hard. This results in constipation. If this continues it leads to piles. The uterus exerts pressure on the pelvic region and the veins surrounding the anus get pushed causing the formation of small lumps of piles. Though this gets rectified after delivery it is important to be cautious.

Try to make more of fruits, vegetables and fiber containing food.

Changes in the Vision: It is normal for the blood pressure to suddenly increase and decrease. Sight may become blurred whenever there is a high BP. There is no need to worry about this. This gets normalized after delivery.

Inflammation in the Guns: The gums become soft during pregnancy. Because of this there is inflammation. Do not bite hard foods. Take care of your oral hygiene.

Frequent Urination: because of pressure from pregnancy whenever you laugh hard or speak loudly urine is passed automatically as an involuntary mechanism. Such frequent urination during the 10th month indicates possible rupture of the amniotic sac. See the doctor immediately. This is risky for the baby.

Sleeplessness: There is frequent urination because of sleeplessness. Every sleeping position may be inconvenient. This also will result in lack of sleep.

Itching: Scars and lines develop in the abdomen which causes an itching sensation. Itching sensation all over the body may indicate liver damage. See the doctor.

Joints: the Joints become tender as a result of hormonal changes. This causes pain in the joints. Try taking sufficient rest along with medical advice.

Sexual thoughts: desire for sex may increase or decrease due to hormonal changes. This is normal.

Planning 2

Calcium
Calcium is required for the baby’s bones and teeth formation. Try to take more of milk and milk products.
Pains
The growing fetus results in the shifting of centre of gravity. This may cause back pain. The blood vessels supplying the legs get pressed by the growing uterus. So there may be in pain in the legs and the feet. Fragrances and aromas could be offensive and may cause headache.
Breasts
The breasts become full only after pregnancy. There may be color changes. There is increased blood flow to this area and there may be severe pain by mere touch. Small knots start forming around the nipples. These are common issues and should not cause any worry.
Breathlessness
There will be breathless because the growing uterus presses the stomach upwards. The lungs are unable to expand fully. You may be unable to breath in sufficient oxygen. This results in breathlessness. This is also common during pregnancy.

Giddiness : There will be frequent episodes of giddiness due to lowering of blood pressure. There may be fatigue or malaise or nausea. Try to eat without starving.

Planning of pregnancy 1

Advice: This is important for every female who becomes pregnant. Do not listen to the old fashioned stories but try to find out what tests you should do before pregnancy and when you are likely to become pregnant. You should also know about safety precautions.

Discontinuation of menstruation: This is an indication of pregnancy. This can also happen as a side effect of intake of certain medicines. You should wait till the next period to see if you are really pregnant and have it confirmed. Food: The baby will be healthy only if the mother takes proper healthy food.

Craving for certain foods: During pregnancy it is normal to feel a craving for certain types of food. This is because of hormonal changes. There is increased desire for unusual things like, ash, coal and mud. The first few months you may not eat it due to morning sickness. You should know that these are harmful to the body and so learn to avoid it.

Anemia

During pregnancy, the baby derives its oxygen and other nutrients from the mother’s blood. So there is an increased need for blood production in the mother. Foods like fruits and greens will not only be nutritious but also help to increase blood formation. If sufficient nutrients are not provided there will be less production of blood and anemia. This is dangerous to both the mother and baby. Try to have iron and folic acid supplements.

Last stage of labour

Consider that there was a respiratory contraction just 30-40 seconds prior. With every contraction breathe in slowly and let the air out slowly or rapidly. Deeply or slowly breath in during the next contraction with rhythm.

When the contraction is over, breathe in once more completely and let out slowly or rapidly. Between contractions breathe normally. Following the same pattern of breathing along with the contractions during delivery is sure to benefit you.

Changing the pattern of breathing when contractions increase. as delivery approaches and contractions become stronger you will tend to keep the diaphragm in place. Since oxygen requirement for the uterus keeps increasing, breathe deeply during the beginning and end of e ach contraction.

When you change your breathing pattern, even if the contraction is severe, breathing will be easy and peaceful. Consider that you have a strong contraction lasting for one full minute, when it begins, breathe deeply; expel slowly or rapidly so that the while of your body expels.

During the next four or five breaths, slow down your breathing; you will find you are breathing less.

Exercises during Pregnancy

Do exercises that do not strain particular muscles; instead do those exercises that would help weight management and would benefit all parts of the body. What can be done and what should not be done are listed here

Instead of just standing, try walking forward and backward. This way you use different muscles every time. Body weight is equally shared among all parts. Keep one of your feet forward. This way you are able to shift your body weight from one foot to another easily and effectively. Try walking while moving your muscles, keeping your back straight and tilting your pelvis to one side.

While sitting, use a stool to keep your feet elevated. While climbing stairs, plant your feet completely on the step and instead of leaning forward, raise your legs and feet to reach the next step. Avoid leaning forward or bending down to lift something from the floor. This will strain your back while straightening. These will also shift your centre of gravity. If lifting is necessary, place your feet well spread out, straighten your back, fold your legs and squat while picking up the article.

More Superstitions belief

In many western countries it is believed that washing the hands in cold water to standing in a cold place would cause a miscarriage. Some Australians believe that eating a lot of vegetables would cause scars on the baby during the birth and that excessive smoking is good. They think this will ensure a small healthy baby through normal hassle-free delivery.

You can predict the sec of the baby by looking at the shape of the woman’s abdomen; if the stomach protrusion is too low, then the baby is a boy and vice versa. Getting scared would affect the baby. Taking an X-ray of the tooth would cause abortion.

Exercise, travel and sex would cause abortion. They sex of the baby could be predicted from the odor caused after sex between the couples and their posture. The daughter would deliver her baby just like how her mother did, that the daughter is likely to reproduce children very similar to her mother.

Milk of a mother who is very irritable becomes poisonous for the baby.

Superstitions belief regarding pregnant Woman

Many people believe that if the lines formed on the naval are in circles then the baby would be a female; if lines are adjacent to the naval the baby would be male. This is a belief among the English.

Pregnant Women develop a craving for foods like, charcoal, mud, chalk etc. In some countries certain type of foods are forbidden for pregnant women. In Australia, women of the Thivi tribes are forbidden to eat young forms of catfish and crab. The Arabesh tribe of New Guinea forbids their pregnant folk from eating eel and frog.

Belief that if the pregnant woman spends her time in involving something that makes her tie something or make a knot or even knot would cause the umbilical cord to noose around the neck is common even in Western Countries. Such an event is thought to be caused by a pregnant woman lifting her hands above her head in Australia.

In Japan it is believed that two pregnant women if they happen to be in the same place should not see each other face to face. If they do they believe that one would die.

Don't live a little, live on fire

Don't live a little, live on fire

SYMPTOMS OF LOBOR AS TO FOLLOW:

Initially muscle tension is much less. There may be low level back pain. For some, the pain may b e as bad as that experienced during periods. Sometimes there is squeezing pain; some feel like they have loose motion.

There is a gap between every contraction. The frequency of contraction increases slowly, and the gap reduces. When the contractions are spaced once in ten minutes, it becomes unbearable. This is the actual delivery time.

Just before delivery or at the initial stages of pregnancy mucus from the uterine cervix raptures and comes out through the vagina. This is called show. This occurs before onset of labor pains. It is a small amount of viscous, red tinged mucus secretion.

There is a small amount of blood loss along with this fluid drain. Excess bleeding indicates something is wrong. Go to the doctor immediately

Just at the onset of labor or a little prior to that, the amniotic sac breaks. If this occurs before labor, the fluid starts draining in small amounts through the vagina or in large quantities uncontrollably.

The amniotic sac could break without any warning.

If you are approaching labor and you need to go out, always carry some sanitary pads with you. You can be prepared for any sudden rupture. You can spread a rubber sheet underneath your bed spread to prevent the bed from getting wet with this kind of draining. This may be uncomfortable during summer.

THINGS TO BE DONE:

Your doctor examines and find out how things are with you. Your BP, pulse and temperature are regularly checked. In addition urine test is done. The doctor would examine your lower abdomen to find out the position of the baby. The Baby’s pulse is checked. Intra vaginal examination will be done to find out how much cervix is opened up.

If you have contractions, inform the doctor. She would wait until it is over. She would be able to judge how far you have come. If you wish to know something, ask the doctor without any reservation.

The public hair is shaved off. In many hospitals this is not done. Only the hair is around genitals is taken off.

Enema is given through the anal pore to empty the contents of the intestines completely. some women are able to do it naturally.

When the pain is intense , in some hospitals, the woman is given a warm bath. This reduces the initial birth pangs to some extent.

Then you will be taken to the labor room. You would be given pain killers doctor or the assistants.

No one can estimate when you are likely to get pain. When pain increases due to uterine contractions the doctor may give you some pain killers. You should think about all eventualities in the initial days it and get all information from your doctor. You should also know what kind of pain killers are available.

Thinking about the pain and being anxious about it actually increases pain. You can do breathing exercises to reduce pain. If pain killers are not used, the baby may most probably be born in 15 minutes.

There should b enough space for the contractions to occur when you strain yourself. When that does not happen, enema is given. In the event of a caesarean section the hair needs to be removed .Otherwise, it is your choice.
